There are three-pronged micro-blades available and they are often called micro-3 fuses. The advantage of a micro-blade fuse is that it will protect two different circuits that are connected to a single power source. So here, the power will flow through the fuse and out of the fuse via its prongs.

Bosch Fuses

The Bosch fuses are the most common fuses in cars in Europe. These fuses have cone-shaped end and smaller dimensions. The Bosch fuses go by a number of names, such as Torpedo fuses and 6AC fuses. If you have an imported vehicle, there is a very good chance you will have a Bosch fuse on it.

Glass Fuses

Lucas fuses that are glass are not the same size of glass fuses that are American. It is rare that you will need a Lucas fuse for a modern vehicle in America, but they are one of the fuses that have been used in cars.

Limiter Fuses

Limiter fuses are another of the most common kinds of fuse there is. These are also called current-limiting fuses because they will limit the current that passes through them. When a fuse component melts, the resistance reduces the intensity of the current flowing through it, and this protects other components of the surrounding electrical system. These kinds of fuses will come in a wide range of sizes in order to accommodate multiple applications.

How to Identify Fuse Types

Fuses are easier to identify than you might think, especially some fuses, like glass fuses, which are identified by their name alone. Still, it is important to learn how to identify them as quickly and efficiently as possible. Although a fuse that has blown may be easy to repair, it’s never a good idea to just let it go. As mentioned, blade fuses come in a range of sizes as well, and not just ampere ratings. Micro 2 are the smallest with a tall and thin shape to them. Micro 3 are fuses that are easy to identify because they have three prongs on them instead of two. A low-profile blade fuse is one that is very small with very few terminals. A mini-blade fuse is one that has longer terminals than low-profile blade fuses. Regular and maxi blade fuses are the largest kinds of blade fuses.

ATO and ATC Fuses

ATO and ATC fuses are terms used for blade fuses. These are regular blade fuses that can be interchangeable. In an ATC fuse, the plastic housing around the fuse closes the fuse. With the ATO fuse, it is an open-element that can be exposed to the environment.
